Paul Sellers' Biography

Paul Sellers describes himself as a lifelong amateur woodworker. Pauls’ journey in woodworking began in a small joiner’s workshop in Stockport, England in 1965.

He spent a large part of his working life in the USA where he taught woodworking courses. Paul often talks about this on his blog.

Paul’s hard work and love of the craft resulted in his designs furnishing the homes of President Bush and Senator Gramm. Two of his pieces also grace the Cabinet Room of the White House as part of the Permanent Collection.

In 2009, Paul moved back to the UK. Since then he has launched his highly popular YouTube channel, a project subscription website called Woodworking Masterclasses and a site for beginner woodworkers called Common Woodworking. He has also released his book, Essential Woodworking Hand Tools, a definitive guide to all the hand tools you need to start woodworking.

In early 2018, Paul and the team moved to their current studio in Oxfordshire. From here, Paul often shares snippets of his day-to-day work on Instagram, Facebook and tiktok.

At present, Paul is working on Sellers Home, a project that sees him make every piece of wooden furniture for a typical house. We have collected photos of his work so far in this gallery and the project videos are available on Woodworking Masterclasses.
