It's not very often that I blog on machines, but this demonstration was soooo good. I should have written a blog on this previously, but let's start here. I sat through Alex Snodgrass' demonstration on bandsaw set up, maintenance and use the other day and it was quite amazing to watch him work this machine, set up the blades and many of the Carter products that further enhance the business end of the bandsaw regardless of make. He covers alignment, blade tensioning, blade type and sizing and much more. I thought his demonstrations were electric, practical and very real for the new and experienced user.

Resawing seemed so slick with the magnetic fence that I am taking one for each of the school bandsaws. This addition resolves so many issues surround resawing, but even beyond that, it is ideal for many other issues too many to list but including dimensioning log stock into square stock, making sequentially cut veneers, and that's without discussing curved work.

Even though the Carter equipment is well engineered for accuracy and durability, and that speaks for itself, it's always good to see someone working a machine with the skill and working knowledge that takes you right inside the machine.

So, my demonstrator of the day that's well worth sitting through for at least an hour is Alex Snodgrass. Be sure to take time tomorrow to watch his bandsaw clinic offering. You will not be disappointed. Solid and down-to-earth real.
